Frequently Asked Questions / Rules and Requirements

 

 

  1.) Where can I get a permit- Permits are available during normal business hours from

       Jungwirth’ Ace Hardware

       10636 North Bay shore Drive

       Sister Bay, WI 54234

 

  2.) What is the cost of a permit? – Permits are offered free of charge.

 

  3.) How long is the permit good for? - Permits are issued one day at a time for and on the day of the burn.

 

  4.) Can I burn on Sundays?  - No burn permits will be issued on Sundays

 

  5.) Can I burn on a Holiday? - No burn permits will be issued on holidays.

 

  6.) What can I burn?

       All items to be burned must meet the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations

  7.) If the fire gets away am I liable? – Yes

       Permit holders are responsible for any and all damage that may result from there fire

 

  8 .) Do I have to stay with the fire? – Yes

        Permit holders must remain with the fire until the fire is burned out or extinguished

 

  9.) What happens if I don’t get a permit?

       Burning without a permit may result in a fine issued by the Door County Sheriff’s Department

 

10.) Will I get a bill from the Fire Department?

       Burning without a permit may result in a bill for cost incurred for the extinguishment of the fire

 

11.) When burning what do I have to do?

       It is recommended that a means of extinguishment is keep near the fire at all time.

 

12.) What happens if I think the fire is to big or is getting away?

        In the event of a uncontrolled fire or any possible problem with the fire call 9-1-1.
