| On this slushy afternoon that could not decide between rain and snow, SBLGFD responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Mink River Road just outside of Ellison Bay. Trucks responded from both the Ellison Bay and Sister Bay Stations and completely shut down Mink River Road. Because the vehicle was lodged against a broken power pole with live electrical wires, firefighters were not able to approach the vehicle or assist its occupant until the wires were secured by Wisconsin Public Service. |

| Although we show fire units close to the vehicle on this page, all trucks and personnel were required to stay at least 200 feet away from the accident scene until WPS arrived and made the scene safe. All of these photos were taken after the wires were shut down. With the wires no longer charged, firefighters were able to secure the vehicle (photo 2) with supports, and then cut out the windshield to allow access to the occupant. Electrical service was interrupted to northern Liberty Grove and Washington Island for much of the afternoon, but was restored by about 4:30 p.m. |
